The Certificate in Aromatherapy Consultancy will give you comprehensive knowledge of both common and exotic plant based essential oils. You will learn about the amazing therapeutic benefits and applications through different blending techniques and skin analysis.

Modern Aromatherapy utilises pure, natural plant based oils of the highest quality. Individual blends are made for use in massage therapy, steam inhalations, hand and foots baths, diffusers, poultices and compresses.

Studies also include the chemical constituents and properties of plant based essential oils so you learn how and why they work!

This course is ideal for those wanting to explore the amazing world of Aromatherapy, for use at home or in retail, and is a wonderful adjunct for Massage Therapists, Reflexologist and Beauty & Spa Therapists.

  • Review the live recording and course content at your leisure in-line with your own weekly study schedule
  • You can attend the live class and watch the recording as revision.

Each class recording is available for the whole duration of term to optimise your learning experience.

UNITS OF STUDY

Aromatherapy Essentials

Description: Undertake an in-depth study of 18 essential oils, including their history, chemical constituents, actions and therapeutic use. You will also learn blending techniques, methods of application and extraction methods.

Learning Hours: Learning hours are inclusive of all supervised and prescribed activities throughout the duration of this subject. These may include lectures, on-line tasks, forums, assessments, prescribed reading, research, assignments and activities.

Assessment
This subject is assessed by:

  • One on-line quiz

Advanced Aromatherapy

Description: An expansion of the Aromatherapy Essentials course, this unit of study looks at different body systems, skin types, advanced blending techniques & perfumes, essential oil production and the interesting area of subtle aromatherapy. 
You will also learn about toxic oils, along with the chemical constituents of essential oils - the how and why they work! 
Some of the more exotic essential oils will be covered in detail.

Learning Hours: Learning hours are inclusive of all supervised and prescribed activities throughout the duration of this subject. These may include lectures, on-line tasks, forums, assessments, prescribed reading, research, assignments and activities.

Assessment
This unit is assessed by:

  • One on-line quiz
