Diploma of Energetic Kinesiology

Energetic Kinesiology is a truly amazing modality supported by an extensive body of research, using non-invasive, holistic approaches to support the health and wellbeing of the body, mind and soul.   Drawing on both the Eastern and Western Healing traditions Kinesiologists use muscle monitoring, a method of accessing the body's innate biofeedback systems (among other tools), to listen to the body and uncover areas of stress and imbalance.  Kinesiologists then identify ways to assist the client to restore this balance and in so doing, open the door to wellness and vitality. 

This qualification in Energetic Kinesiology integrates ground breaking research in psychoneuroimmunology, studying interactions between neural, endocrine and the immune system, vibrational remedies and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Nutrition. The content is integrated & comprehensive, and it is taught by some of Australia's leading practitioners & academics in their field. Their passion and expertise will provide you with an exceptional learning experience and new career in practising in one of the most fascinating fields in complementary medicine.

Due to the highly practical hands on nature of the course, it is held on campus in Sydney, however some theory units are available on-line.

UNITS OF STUDY

Introduction to Energetic Kinesiology Theory and Practice

Description: Kinesiology combines the ancient eastern philosophies of acupuncture (without the use of needles) with the western understanding of anatomy and physiology to enable practitioners to treat the whole person. This introductory subject will provide you with a solid foundation on which you can build the skills to become a kinesiology practitioner.  You will be introduced to energetic healing techniques which encompasses all aspects of the human being: Mind, Body and Spirit.

Self-Directed Learning:Components of this units require self-directed study where students will perform research and or set tasks followed by reviews promoting learning, engagement debate and group discussion. 

Assessment: (indicative only): This unit of study is assesssed via body logs, an on-line quiz, practical observation & class participation.

Advanced Kinesiology Theory and Practice

Description: This unit will develop your fundamental kinesiology skills to enable you to identify the signs and symptoms of stress and possibilities in overcoming stressors of all kinds that affect the body’s systems and structure.  The unit will also introduce you to a range of additional techniques and processes that can be integrated easily into your current knowledge of Kinesiology which will enhance your skills and enable you to provide a more holistic approach to your kinesiology balancing.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Nutrition

Description: This practical and theoretical model will introduce you to the concept of Oriental Dietary Therapy, which is the appropriate selection of foods and the combination of Chinese Herbal Traditional Medicinal foods. You will learn about diet basics, cooking techniques and properties of food and how to recognize different symptomatic patterns and problems that require unique dietary solutions.

Plan and Manage a Health Care Business

Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan, establish and manage a holistic health care or wellness practice including planning and monitoring the business, establishing and maintaining administrative and financial systems, developing and managing promotion and marketing.  It covers a range of contexts where natural health services are provided with direct client contact involved.

Assessment (indicative only):  Mid-term quiz (10%), SMART goal & SWOT analysis written assignment (30%), Business plan (50%), Participation (10%)

Communicate With Clients

Description: This unit of study covers the skills required by practitioners to establish and maintain effective communication with clients throughout all interactions and provide basic counselling as required and as appropriate to facilitate the treatment or health service being provided. The skills apply to work in a range of health settings where health services are provided with direct client contact involved.

Body Systems - An Introduction

Description: This course will enable students to understand the principles and mechanisms involved in physiological function and gain an appreciation of how changes in function can lead to breakdown in health.

Self Directed Learning: Components of this unit require self directed study where students will perform research and or set tasks followed by reviews promoting learning, engagement, debate and group discussion.

Assessment (indicative only): The unit is assessed via take home assignment and attendance

Applied Kinesiology Practice

Description:

This unit will provide a review of the Introduction to Energetic Kinesiology and Advanced Kinesiology; provide further on-campus kinesiology instruction to ensure the competent application of theory and practical techniques.  Client Case histories, tools and further techniques will be covered in preparation for kinesiology clinical practice.

Assessment: (indicative only): This unit of study is assessed via an assignment and ongoing class participation.

Psychoneuroimmunology Based Relaxation Therapy

Description: Essential for all health professionals, this unit outlines the research, evidence, mechanisms and practice of relaxation techniques for a range of chronic physical and psychological conditions. It highlights studies in psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) as the scientific framework to understand benefits of diaphragmatic breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery and passive movements and how to apply them in personal practice. Students will benefit personally and professionally from the practice of evidence based relaxation techniques. Since this is a very research-focused course, students will be expected to review and reflect upon relevant research papers in PNI.    

Self-Directed learning: Components of this unit require self-directed study where students will be assigned set tasks which promote learning, engagement, debate and group discussion. On average, students in face-to-face mode can expect to spend between 3-4 additional hours (outside of class) in self-directed study.  

Assessment (indicative only): This unit of study is assessed via reflective journal, quiz and class participation, or participation in on-line forums for distance students.

- Subtle Anatomy Energy Systems

Description: In this unit, we’ll explore the systems of anatomy beyond the physical. You will develop an understanding of the major concepts of Oriental Healing and the different perspectives of western oriental approaches.  You will gain knowledge of the main meridians in the body and the interrelationship between all parts of the body, as well as the theoretical aspects of energy - qi and its connection to the mind, emotions and the body’s state of ill health.  Finally, you will also be introduced to energy scanning as it applies to the meridians.

Assessment: (indicative only): Examination and Creative Assignment.

Australian Bush Flower Essences

Description: Learn to apply & prescribe the subtle healing system of Australian flower essences for treating negative states of mind and emotions.

Clinical Practice A (Kinesiology)

Description: You will put the skills and knowledge you have learned over the course of your studies into practice by providing professional kinesiology consultations to clients, in the Nature Care Wellness Centre (a clinic open to members of the public) under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor. 

Assessment: (indicative only) This unit of study is assessed via on-going practical assessment.

Pre-requisites: All units in Study Period 1 and Study Period 2 of course

Co-requisites: Safe Practices


Clinical Practice B (Kinesiology)

Description: You will put the skills and knowledge you have learned over the course of your studies into practice by providing professional kinesiology consultations to clients, in the Nature Care Wellness Centre (a clinic open to members of the public) under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor. 

Assessment: (indicative only) This unit of study is assessed via on-going practical assessment.

Pre-requisites: All units in Study Period 1 and Study Period 2 of course, Safe Practices

Co-requisites: Nil.
